Prime Minister Malcolm Turnball, who visited the BIO21 Institute in Melbourne on Monday 7 March 2016, announced that the BIO21 Institute will be expanded with two more hubs: The CSL Research Hub and the Translation Medicine Hub, where ideas will be turned into companies and products.
ID/Lab is currently engaged on the BIO21 Stage 2 project by DesignInc, to develop the wayfinding strategy, allocation plans and signage design using the existing signage manual. The strategy is to integrate with the existing signage and wayfinding on the campus.
Stage 2 covers a new building which accommodates open plan laboratories, separate write-up facilities, offices and related support spaces.
ID/Lab has worked closely with architect DesignInc to develop a set of planning- and interior interventions, which promote collaboration and open access. By utilising an integrated approach, we have minimised the quantity and the cost of signage for the new facility.
A future Stage 3 facility has been taken into account.
The Melbourne Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute which is located in Parkville, is a multidisciplinary research centre. It specialises in medical, agricultural and environmental biotechnology.
It's the Institute's vision to improve health and the environment through innovation in biotechnology, driven by their multidisciplinary research and dynamic engagement with the industry.
